The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10 (NLT)
Bullies’ words last longer than their punch. Words hurt. The greatest bully that ever lived, satan, uses words to cripple our souls and chain our feet. His may goal is to kill, steal, and destroy our destinies. He loves to lie to us and plant seeds in our mind that entangle us, and strangle out the possibility of us embracing who we truly are in Christ. He convinces us we are still prisoners, when the truth is the Cross has set us free and robbed him of all power.
There are 3 main lies the enemy uses to regain power in our lives and keep us from shining freely.
First, he tells us we are unworthy, damaged, useless, and unloveable. His goal is to strip us of our worth, making us believe we are not enough and that not even God could use us or accept us.
Luckily, God’s love for us can never change no matter what our past contains. Satan fights hard to convince us that we are unworthy so that we reject God’s every attempt to love us unconditionally. BUT you need to realize this- the enemy is terrified by a woman who knows her worth in Christ because he knows she is unstoppable!
Second, he tells us it is hopeless. He tries hard to convince us that we will never change, circumstances will never change, and God doesn’t care. He attacks our sense of trust in God’s goodness to work on our behalf and his reliability to show up for us and heal our brokenness. Without hope, trust cannot exist.
This lie fuels a sense of rejection from God. We ask ourselves, “Why, me?” and we start to believe that God doesn’t care and wasn’t there for us in our time of need. This sets the stage for a lifetime of pushing God away because deep down we feel, we weren’t enough for him to rescue. Satan taunts us with our painful memories wanting us to believe God was absent in our pain. BUT God said “He will never forsake us” and I believe He weeps with us in the moments that we are broken by this fallen world.
His Third lie is to make us believe we are all alone and that we can only depend on “ME, MYSELF, and I!” He attacks our need to depend on the support of others and seeks to keep us from placing our darkest moments before the only Light that can set us free. Satan wants us to see our need for connection and dependence as weakness because he knows we have strength in numbers, and even more unmatched power when we remain connected to God. Satan tries to convince us that no one is trustworthy not even God.
The truth is if he can keep you alone in your pain, he can keep you from finding healing. God greatly desires to team up with us and do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” in our life (Ephesians 3:20 NIV). We cannot successfully accomplish our healing journey alone. We need others to support us, and encourage us along the rough terrain and we need God to navigate and show us the way. The truth is we Shine most Freely and brightly when we are connected to the greatest Light Giver ever known.
2 Corinthians 5: 14-20 states, “Our firm decision is to work from this focused center: One man died for EVERYONE. That puts EVERYONE in the same boat. He included EVERYONE in his death so that EVERYONE could also be included in his life, a resurrection life, a far better life than people ever lived on their own. Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look…Now we look inside, and what we see is that ANYONE united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new “(MSG, emphasis mine).
I am thankful that God has a no discrimination policy and I am done being bullied by a liar! We are all in the same boat. No one too lost, too damage, too broken. He included EVERYONE (THAT MEANS YOU) in His death so that EVERYONE could join in the “far better life” he wants to give. He included EVERYONE in his plan to grant us a fresh start and make us NEW no longer chained by our past mistakes!
So do me a favor and the next time the enemy tries to kill your destiny by telling you your not worthy, it is hopeless, and you are all alone, call him out for what he is and declare…
“YOUR A LIAR, CHRIST DIED FOR ME TO BE FREE FROM YOUR LIES ONCE AND FOR ALL! I am worthy of God’s love. Worthy to be use in God’s kingdom. He is my rescuer and He will turn every ounce of pain you tried to destroy me with into good. He is with me always wanting to give me life and life more abundantly. I am thankful that God wants to do immeasurably more than I can ever think or image in my life. HE HAS MADE ME NEW- MY PAST IS GONE! and I will be a LIGHT that SHINES brightly~unashamed of my past and free to live as Christ intended.”
Be Blessed ~ Be a LIGHT!
